A GREAT SONG IS GREAT BECAUSE IT TEACHES AND CHANNELS ENERGY
Transmitting and receiving energy is what we are fundamentally about as living beings - sometimes I like to say that we are electromagnetic beings in an electromagnetic universe.
All scientifically sound but I don’t wish to distort this essay by explaining the physics, the physiology and the biochemistry.
These times are hurtful and heartbreaking - they test every fiber of our moral, cultural and spiritual beings.
The great spiritual teachers look at life as a test - and I fully believe this to be true.
If we are on a spiritual path of feeling and sensitivity combined with the logic and reason of which we are so capable - we can walk through darkness and the bone chilling satanism of evil ones and be not untouched - but protected - as if in a spiritual cocoon.
We are all hurting and feeling betrayed and wounded.
The nerves of us all are badly frayed and our normal capacity to roll with the punches is terribly strained.
As humans we are energetic beings and seriously affected by the thinking and consciousness of others.
This is perhaps well beyond our control - as we simply have no defenses against being a vulnerable human being.
This can harden our hearts and make us the emotional equivalent of an armor plated dinosaur.
There are many places to turn to to help us respect our vulnerability and sensitivity to harmful energy from others.
Here I will turn to a couple of modern songs which seem to reflect a singer songwriter’s attempt to put his own pain into music and words - to manifest and heal through his own journey.
As we become familiar with the pain and suffering others go through we learn skills which can help us in times when pain and doubt leave us high and dry - alone and stranded on an emotional desert island.
I use music and the artistic journeys of others as both my shield against a cold and calculating world and as a learning opportunity to become better at overcoming the negative emotions of doubt and pain.
These kinds of really dark times give us untold opportunities to reflect and to learn to be more sensitive and responsive human beings.
There are many spiritual ways of doing this as well but music is a really important part of that journey - why churches find their music to be of such importance.
Walking in the path of spiritual avatars like Jesus and taking advice from a few great writers and modern teachers I will mention - also help.
I know from my own experience that the hurt from the betrayal we suffer from others can break us apart.
There have been many times I wanted to throw in the towel - to just say the hell with this heartbreaking and heartbroken world.
Because I work with musicians who - on repeat - suffer and write and sing about heartbreak - it often falls to me to be the one to help them pick themselves up off the floor and try once again.
But they in turn pick me up in those times when I fall flat and broken.
In so any ways we receive back the energy we interchange with the universe - and believe me there were long periods of my own life when I was hurting and in return - hurtful.
Whatever spiritual energy is in charge of this place we are traveling through - God - or the energy we associate with God - gives us immediate feedback if we are transiting loving and kind energy and the reverse if we are transiting in anger and hatred.
We truly can expect the messages from the universe to hit us with force - with equal and opposite reactions to the energy we put out.
Compassion and love and understanding are the evolutionarily favorable emotions with short bursts of fear and anger - meant to help us survive danger.
Our bodies become mired in physiologically harmful biochemistry if we hold onto negative emotions like fear and anger - and conversely wash us clean and restore us with beneficial biochemistry when we engage in the loving and compassionate emotions.
But in this Heartbreaking and Heartbroken World of Heartbreakers failure, betrayal, and misunderstanding are guaranteed - and the persistence to pick our heartbroken selves back up to go on is often at an unreasonable premium we feel we cannot afford.
Our physical and emotional selves feel destroyed and we fall into believing we simply cannot ever heal - and yet time after time - we heal and go on - our hearts and minds bearing the scars of innumerable traumas.
We are all at once vulnerable and emotional beings - and often must find out the hard way that our very passionate vulnerability is our true strength.
We are never stronger than when we allow our vulnerability to allow us to bend and to undergo a metamorphosis - into both a stronger, more resilient and vulnerable human.
If we instead shut ourselves out and refuse to allow ourselves to feel - we become more rigid and fragile - and breakable and heartbroken.
The more we shut off feelings the more we become hostage to them.
We then often become hostage to our negative feelings of envy, frustration, anger and hatred.
And when we live in culture which has become so broken they look in all the wrong places for an antidote which deadens the pain for a little while what do we observe?
That the preponderance of people become so ruled over by emotional brokenness they will go to Taylor Swift concerts - or choose leaders who proselytize war or transgenderism - or AI - or the World Economic System - or worse.
There is a price to be paid for emotional brokenness and it is very very high.
There are plenty of dedicated professionals to help us walk in the Cristian footsteps of Jesus but precious few to help us see the spiritual teachings in modern language and form as taught by modern spiritual teachers.
My two favorite spiritual teachers are Thict Nat Han and Carlos Casteneda - two spirits who have walked the walk and talked the talk in my lifetime - and who survived long enough to write blazingly skillfully about their own journey.
And of course just as no two human beings is exactly alike and must walk their own unique journey through this place of wandering immortals.
So no true wandering spirits walk the same journey - it is just not possible in this universe of precise and exacting individuality.
In these broken times of such pain we can do nothing other than to walk our own individual path as needed and to strike up meaningful connections with others as we do so.
But we are never ever alone - again that is not possible in this universe of so many spirits.
I believe these times of death and of radically desperate symbolism which marks the depths of the pain that we are truly on the verge of a Great Awakening.
If we listen closely we can feel this with every trembling vibrating molecular and living fiber of our beings.
All Brokenhearted, Heartbreakers on a planet of fellow beings who are all too often - all together - are Heartbroken.
I sincerely hope these words help transit this pain and help lead to a world of fellowship and sensitivity - to the shared sense of purpose of which we humans are capable.
Fly like an Eagle above the pain and heartbroken times of darkness.
Light your own candle and share it with others.
