When I first began writing on SubStack a wise psychiatrist - a fellow Substack writer - suggested I set out to “slay the dragons”. Good advice it was.
So many dragons to slay. So little time. At this Hindu temple in Malibu I find a perfect example of a celebration of the dragons we need to be slaying. Selecting for the wrong dragons to perpetuate and celebrate is the culture of death.
Like all religions there is truth to be found but we must beware of the potential traps of spiritual materialism and things that may work against the finding of our own better angels.
After all is said and done it seems that however we go about these quests we need some basic common sense to even begin to understand these better angels. The failure to become better angels destroys us as battered angels.
We either choose life or we choose death. No middle ground. Not in December 2022.
There is nothing wrong with the dragons. It is ourselves we misunderstand. We choose wrong and we choose for life destroying dragons. We become life destroying dragons.
Oppenheimer & The Culture of Death. The following will be crass for many people but it helps Illustrate the point here. All is fair in love and war? Something like that.
I was initially interested in the video about Dragon Symbolism; but five minutes into it, I was bored and disgusted. Do some people actually believe that the Serpent told Eve to masturbate and that action led to the downfall of mankind? I've always been taught that the fruit of the Tree had something to do with wisdom and not whacking off.
Of course, the dragon has a much different symbolic value in China than in Europe; but I found it impossible to stick with that video.
I haven't clicked on the videos, but sure, people are totally dependent on a destructive economic system - that will do them all in!
