Pulling together intelligence from many inputs is something humans do very well. Our evolution proves it beyond a doubt. The huge slump we endure as a species right now is meant to be. As painful as it is this is how we grow and change. Very few major advancements in human evolutionary history are free of painful growth. Celebrating this pain and recognizing it for what it is, being grateful for it is critically important. Evolutionary watershed opportunities just don’t come along every day. And this is an evolutionary watershed.

If we recognize it for what it is we can excel in ways we never imagined. Fail to recognize it and we will fail with a vengeance. As biological beings we have been shaped by life on our planet in ways we may not be able to fully fathom yet. Biological sciences and evolutionary understanding can be used for evil purposes as we have seen. But that, as some would claim, does not damn the science but those who have misused the science. The smarter we get the less likely we are liable to be dominated by ill intenT.

I want to share several essays from SubStack writers publishing just today which capture important aspects of this intelligence and point to ways we might use our understanding of complexity for the good of all of us.

The mask of public obedience

I thank these writers for recognition of important signposts we are recognizing. These are far from the only writers here in SS. We are fortunate to have an entire community, an interdependent web of those who contribute to the whole. I feel grateful to have this available as a tool to comprehend these “interesting” times. 

Is SubStack breaking the internet? While SS reflects many opposing viewpoints at once it seems to have achieved a nexus of what is possible by encouraging truly free speech. Free speech is not something to fear but a great capability to embrace. Continue on this path and we will break the back of the internet and our AI world being used to do harm. We have a choice to create a world so much better than we ever imagined. That is real evolution.

Nothing succeeds like success. Recognition is our most important tool. We did not develop big brains with both right and left brain capabilities for nothing.  Our opposable thumbs, sensitive bodies are here to recognize life-affirming strategies. We are the universe made conscious. We are at an epic crossroads or at a dead end. We choose. It is evolutionary.

This post illustrates the value of dance, of three dimensional maneuvering in the face of tyranny. We humans are evolved to do this well. Follow the beat - it is there for a reason. Zig and zag with intelligence and understanding. Keep those playlists current and intelligent. You know the way. Understanding the way has been evolving within us and our interdependent reality for a long long time.

Because “patriots” dance better. Zig and zag everyone, I think it must be up to us.

Don’t fear the storm, become the storm. You have the tools - all of them.

For the children.
