Dave McGowan wrote these eye-popping articles in the link above exploring in some detail the CIA/intelligence community's role in creating the 60s music counterculture out of Laurel Canyon, California. It's a fascinating read about many the intelligence connections and military/intelligence careers of the fathers of so many pop musicians of the 60s era. I was quite amazed to learn more about this recently.
McGowan discusses among others David Crosby (the son of an Annapolis graduate and WWII military intelligence officer Major Floyd Delafield Crosby), Jim Morrison (his father was commander of the ship involved in the fake Gulf of Tonkin "attack" that got us deeper into the Vietnam war), Frank Zappa and Mrs. Zappa, Cass Elliot and John Philllips of the Mamas and Papas, James Taylor, Jackson Browne and so many more.
Definitely a good read about the invisible hand of intelligence in making the 60s music scene. And here I (and others) thought for all these years that the 60s music was merely the product of talented, young, creative, rebellious musicians. Ha-ha-ha. Live and learn, i guess.
There were undeniably some very talented musicians as part of our generation. But many also got exempt from the war. Thinking for ourselves is great. But we also must realize we are in the midst of one of the biggest psychological operations of all time. The sins of the fathers not necessarily visited on the sons. All not as it appears. Many of these musicians may be genuine in their intent. We each must decide for ourselves. Our inborn BS detectors. I have far less problem with CSNY - even a drunk Morrison - than a British import of “ I wanna hold your hand” supposed to be the American Blues. Trust our gut. They are always reliable. We’re we used - yes lord knows we still are. An import of Elton John I never saw as a problem - Bernie Taupin lyrics always rang true even when Elton himself did not always. We are our own best politicians.
There are many other examples of great European/British imports. The American Blues is a force of nature.

Arguably since the Bolide extinguished the global civilization more or less 10,000 years ago the Fall of Man is etched in awareness. People forget sometimes that when we fall we do so from a height and when civilizations fall it's more like Humpty Dumpty.

Sadly, we proles can have all the insight and knowledge of Solomon, yet there is nothing we can personally do to prevent the USSA from its ultimate goal of the perversion and destruction of the world. Rolo Slaviskiy and William Whitten both posted insightful and disturbing Substack essays today chronicling the state of the union and the state of the world.
