Great points about hunter gatherer societies. A great example of that can be seen in the Haudenosaunee (6 Nations/Iroquois) Confederacy, which is still the oldest living participatory democracy on earth. Clan mothers choose and can depose chiefs, who are men, while all decisions require consensus among the chiefs...all under the Great Law of Peace. These are concepts that seem foreign in a system that allows cold hard cash to make decisions instead. That's why the US government attempted to destroy or assimilate Native America. Those humanistic values, which had long been crushed across much of the world, were still alive and well in indigenous cultures on "Turtle Island", cultures that didn't even have a written language and hadn't invented the axel wheel - a good reminder that more technology isn't the key to a healthier society.
I make the effort to share this information because it gives me, at last, a plausible answer to a long-unanswered question: Why, no matter how much intelligent goodwill exists in the world, is there so much war, suffering and injustice? It doesn’t seem to matter what creative plan, ideology, religion, or philosophy great minds come up with, nothing seems to improve our lot. Since the dawn of civilization, this pattern repeats itself over and over again.
The answer is that civilization, as we know it, is largely the creation of psychopaths. All civilizations, our own included, have been built on slavery and mass murder. Psychopaths have played a disproportionate role in the development of civilization, because they are hard-wired to lie, kill, cheat, steal, torture, manipulate, and generally inflict great suffering on other humans without feeling any remorse, in order to establish their own sense of security through domination. The inventor of civilization – the first tribal chieftain who successfully brainwashed an army of controlled mass murderers – was almost certainly a genetic psychopath. Since that momentous discovery, psychopaths have enjoyed a significant advantage over non-psychopaths in the struggle for power in civilizational hierarchies – especially military hierarchies.
Behind the apparent insanity of contemporary history, is the actual insanity of psychopaths fighting to preserve their disproportionate power. And as their power grows ever-more-threatened, the psychopaths grow ever-more-desperate. We are witnessing the apotheosis of the overworld – the overlapping criminal syndicates that lurk above ordinary society and law just as the underworld lurks below it.
During the past fifty or more years, psychopaths have gained almost absolute control of all the branches of government. You can notice this if you observe carefully that no matter what illegal thing a modern politician does, no one will really take him to task. All of the so called scandals that have come up, any one of which would have taken down an authentic administration, are just farces played out for the public, to distract them, to make them think that the democracy is still working.
His-story repeats because human emotions don't change. Or something to that effect. It's hard to take responsibility when our critical thinking skills have been dumbed down to the lowest levels. We have to unravel the cord wrapped around our neck but unfortunately, some people see this ligature as a lifeline of sorts. Aka we do what we're told. If we all just stopped; stop participating in their game, we might have a chance. But that's going to take coming off our comfy couches and giving up our so called luxuries and getting back to our basic spiritual values. I honestly don't know if people can do it. We've been literally corralled into a never ending cycle of working for meager wages that are just enough to keep us fed and provide us with mindless entertainment. What are we doing to feed our souls? I personally am over this vicious cycle and with a heavy heart, feel that the end is near. The end of "their" way of life at least and with every end, there comes a new beginning. I try to explain all this to my 14yo niece who says I'm crazy but she also said I'm the good kind of crazy lol. It's going to take the good kind of crazy to survive what's coming. I'm going to have to agree to disagree. The definition of the word "change" seems to be the issue here. We have the internet vs radio, vs nothing but the pony express which before that was nothing. I don't see it. American's own nothing. Really? So who is it that is going to come and take my property and claim ownership? Yes, if I do not pay them "property taxes" they may do so, but I have the choice of shooting all of their enforcers that I can before they steal my home. And I may die in the process...so fucking what? At least I will have been fighting for real freedom and who knows? Yes, I haven't changed my original opinion on studying civilization that the system is the problem.
The system has built in safeguards to keep the psychopathic agenda in place - for it to continue being psychopathic.
